Fly Fishing Report For The Missouri River: Craig, Montana
Fly Fishing Report for the Missouri River: March 10th
It is midge time on the Missouri River.
The weather prediction for later this week is light winds and lots of cloud cover. This will have the trout looking up looking up.
Griffith gnats or small parachutes trailed with emerging midge patterns can be very effective.
Nymphing with pink scuds and midge patterns can pay off as well, especially up by the dam.
Streamers? Go small, slow and deep. With water temperatures near freezing, the fish are sluggish.
Here is a interesting fly tying video for anyone wanting to add some midges to their fly box. Charles Meck tying the Zebra Midge. It's one of the simplest ties there is, but in the Zebra Midge is a very effective fly.
